Flower Brooch

Since I've been making so many of these lately for hats I decided to make a smaller one to wear as a brooch. I've been wearing this grey cashmere sweater a lot lately so I made this pin to wear with it. I wore it for the first time yesterday and loved it. I used a smaller hook than I normally do and only one strand of yarn instead of two and only did two petals instead of three but I think it looks great. I'm sure I'll make a bunch more. Maybe I should make some extras to put in my shop.

More LG enV3 Cell Phone Covers

As always what happens with me when I figure out how to make something new I can't just stop with making just one. I have to make more. When I posted pictures of the cell phone cases that I made recently on facebook I had several inquiries about being able to purchase them so I made a few more and posted in my artfire shop today. I personally prefer the horizontal case. I didn't think I woud but it ends up that the phone is much easier to remove from it. I'm having fun digging through my stash of buttons to find a good match for the yarn. Here's a couple pics of the cell phone cases I listed today.

LG env3 Phone Cases

About a month ago I got a new phone and ever since then I've been wanting to crochet a case for it. Today I finally got around to giving it a try and I ended up making two different versions - one vertical and one horizontal. I'm not sure which one I'll like best. It was pretty easy to figure out a pattern and I luckily found the perfect buttons in my button jar. Guess I'll have to make a few more now that several other members of my family have this phone. Valentine's Presents anyone?

The Wool Gathering

Just before I went to New York I pulled up my friend's address on google maps and zoomed in and looked around to see what else was in the area. I was delighted to find this yarn shop just a few blocks South and was determined to visit if I got the chance. On Sat. my friend was down for a nap so I took the chance to stroll down there. I have to say that I haven't been to very many independent yarn shops since I mainly purchase inexpensive yarn from the major retailers but was charmed by this super cute store. The window display features dressed up snowmen. They had the cutest decor inside with lots of fantastic samples and an amazing selection of high quality yarns. The shop owner seemed very helpful and complimented me on my hat so of course I appreciated that. I chatted with a regular customer for a while who was busily working on knitting an afghan. I'm sure this would be a very fun place to hang out and if I lived there I would be come a regular.

When in NY

I was in NYC last week taking care of a friend who had surgery. I knew it was going to be cold so I crocheted a new hat for the occassion to match my wool coat. I love how warm these hats are since they are crocheted with two strands of yarn. Most days were highs in the low 30s which doesn't sound too bad but when you add windchill into the mix - it was pretty darn cold and I wore my hat constantly to keep warm. Here I am the first night in town in Times Square.

Close up of my super cute warm hat!
