Another Juice Can Cozie

After I made the first two juice can cozies I made this one.  I didn't have pictures of it to include in the post the other day so it gets a post of its own.  I can hardly wait to make another pitcher of juice so that I'll have another juice can to cover.  So cute!

Frozen Juice Canister Cozies

The inspiration for this project came from a niece who had been using a plastic frozen juice container for a pencil holder.  It had been previously decorated with paper but didn't match her newly redecorated room so she had removed the former decorative elements and it was waiting to be redone.

 I used her favorite color - Orange and crocheted this up similar to the soda can cozies I've made before.

 Of course I had to add a gigantic daisy to spruce it up.  I walked all the way over to her house in the heat to give it to her but they were gone so I messaged her on facebook to come over later and she did.

I had an extra juice container so I made one for her sister as well who just redecorated her room too.  They seemed pretty happy with them.

Great for back to school presents or teacher gifts.

Black Flower Hair Clip

So much for my good intentions!  Going back to work and other projects have prevented me from blogging but I have been crafting.  One fun project I made this past week is this giant flower hair clip.  I thought 4" across was a little big but I tried it on and it actually looks great.  It's for a Senior Photo Shoot.  She's going to wear a black sweater so I think this will look great in her hair and stand out nicely against her blond hair.

Handcreme Cozies

I had a couple of these Nivea handcreme tins so I crocheted some little pockets to hold them.

Custom Order - Fuzzy Hats

One of my good friends and biggest fans and supporters picked up two scarves last weekend at the boutique for two of her granddaughters and wanted hats to match.  I've never crocheted hats out of this type of yarn before so it was a bit of a challenge to figure out a pattern but after a few trys it turned out great.  At first I wasn't even sure I could find the yarn but luckily I did.  This yarn is def. not for beginner crocheters. 

Birthday Headband

Went to Josh’s cousin’s daughter’s birthday dinner yesterday and this is what I made her for a present.  Just wrapped a headband with a strip of tshirt and attached a rosette made from the hem of the tshirt.  So simple and yet so cute.  Everyone loved it.

Custom Orders

A couple custom orders I did a month or so ago and realized I hadn’t blogged about.

Custom order soda can cozy.  It’s actually blue but I didn’t have very good lighting in the picture.  Complete with a matching origami gift box. My friend also wanted a soda pop cozy.  This one is green.  It’s just a bit taller than the soda can cozy.  I love doing custom orders for good friends!

Twenty is better than one!

A few months ago I was asked to come up with an idea for a matching hair accessory for the girls for the Primary Program in Sept. The boys will all have matching ties but we weren’t sure what to do for the girls. I wanted to incorporate a fabric rosette. At first I was thinking about making hairclips but figured out that those might not work for everyone depending on their hairstyle and the thickness of their hair. Finally I realized that headbands were the way to go. Not only are the hugely popular right now but they would fit everyone from 4 – 12 years of age and it wouldn’t matter what hairstyle they had. After making an initial prototype and getting it approved by the Primary Presidency I made all 20 that we think we’ll need. It’s nice to have completed a project early and not have to worry about getting it done last minute.

Denim Rosettes

I made these denim rosettes a week or two ago. They are crafted from vintage denim fabric from my mom. They are the biggest rosettes I’ve made so far and I love them! Each one measures approx. 3 1/2” across. I wore one for the first time today for Flag Day.

I had about a half yard of fabric so I was able to make 5 rosettes. I use a 3” strip of fabric per flower. There are tons of tutorials out there but I just ended up kind of making up my own thing. This is a great project because they all turn out so differently and you can’t go wrong.

For the back I cut a piece of scrap material into a circle using the bottom of my favorite glass as a guide. I handstitched a pin back into the middle of the circle and then I hand stitched the circle to the back of the flower.

White Rosettes

I’ve been making rosettes again.  They really are fun.  I originally bought these slippers to wear on my wedding day.  I figured that after pictures I’d kick off my high heels and wear these the rest of the day.  It was a good plan but in the shuffle I ended up just running around my reception barefoot.  I was looking at them the other day and decided that they could be greatly improved by adding rosettes to them.  I looked around for some fabric and found a scrap from my baptism dress from 1980 and used that.

I think they look better with a bigger flower than the one that came on them.

I also made a rosette for my hair and attached it to a bracelet so I can use it as a ponytail holder.

Zipper Flowers

Last week I picked up a couple of vintage zippers so I could try making flowers with them.  This is what I came up with this morning.  The one on the right I hot glued and the one on the left I stitched by hand.  They were pretty fast to make.  Can’t wait to get some more zippers to play with.

Mug Cozies 2.0

I hadn’t made any soda can/water bottle mug cozies for a couple of months and I started making some new flowers the other day so I decided to make a couple and see what they looked like.  I think they turned out pretty cute.  I’ll probably make some more.

New & Improved!

The last couple of days I've been focusing more on cleaning rather than crafting as I have some houseguests coming this weekend. I came across the last bit of this fabric on the kitchen table and didn't want to throw it away so I twisted it up into a rosette and attached it to the front of this little holder that I crocheted a while back. I think it's much improved. I guess that's what I'm into lately - adding flowers to previously completed projects to make them better.Here's a close up of the crazy rosette. since both sides of the fabric show on the crocheted container I wasn't too worried about both sides of the fabric showing in the rosette. It's a great project for the week of earth day as well since I've been upcycling a lot lately.

Crocheted Chapstick Cover Keyrings

I had a bunch of brand new chapsticks so I crocheted covers

for them by modifying a pattern I found online. They were functional but a bit boring so I decided to dress them up a bit.

Here I added a decorative daisy and mini metal keyring to each one.

Much better don't ya think?

Earring orders

I've had two earring orders so far. I had some of these jewelry boxes on hand so I decorated them up with some punch art. Quick, easy & cute!

Fabric Roses Wrist Corsages

I made six more roses this morning so here are the 20 bracelets I have made so far. Individual pictures are posted on facebook. They can be worn separately but it's fun to wear several together. They are $5 each. Each bracelet is completely handmade. I strung all the beads and hand sewed the flowers. The bracelets are all elastic except for the wrap bracelet so they are all adjustable. If you would like any specific measurements for the bracelets let me know. They are all so beautiful they will be hard to part with!

Here's a preview of what I've been working on today - wrist corsages for Mother's Day. My friend Jen of Mary Poppins Presents started making these and here I am copying her. I stopped by her house tonight and this is what she saw when she opened the door. I'll have to take individual pictures later. Underneath the fabric roses there are cute, coordinating bracelets. So fun!

Daisy Earrings

I'd been wanting to make crocheted flower earrings for quite a while now and I finally got aruond to trying it this past week. These are the first pair I made. Each flower measures about 1 1/4" across. I really like how they turned out.
Yesterday I made a few more pairs in a variety of colors.
